BlackBerry Torch 2 Leaked, New Curve Series Upgrades

A nice batch of leaked info has rolled out on the BlackBerry Torch 2, and it looks like RIM is starting to pick it up to catch up with the competition on hardware.  The original Torch was a bit of a disappointment compared to other smart phones, but details reported by BGR show a huge step up.  My one concern is the jump on the processor, but keeping it with a 1300mAh battery they've been using on lower scale phones.

It looks like this should be launching sometime in late Q3.  I just wish they would stop this AT&T only approach with the Torch series and let their customers on other carriers enjoy it.  I would definitely take it over my Style, although I have no complaints about that phone at all.

Leased specs we have so far are:

  • 1.2GHz processor
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
  • 3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display
  • 8GB built-in memory
  • 512MB RAM
  • Bluetooth 2.1

The next bit of good news for you BlackBerry owners are the leaked upgrade on the entry level Curve series phones.  There are two specs that have finally been address that users wanted most, which are on the display and processor.  The processor takes a nice jump to 800Mhz, and the resolution is finally moved from 320x240 to
480×360.  No more obsolete speeds and no more craptastic display resolution!!

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Tri-band UMTS/HSPA 7.2Mbps
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n
